In my third year of LLB, l was invited to be a panelist in several tv shows like Moving on Two (TV2)Selamat Pagi Malaysia (RTM-TV1) and Prisma (RTM-TV1). First time facing the camera did not make me nervous. In fact, l enjoyed it and was excited to express my views on the chosen topics.
My first experience was in Moving on Two. The director was a lady. Her name is Puan Noorul Ashikin. Until now, l still keep her name card. I remember received a phone call from my President of Students' Representative Counsel (SRC) who informed that the producer wanted a female representative to be a panelist in a tv show.At that time,l visited my late father who was admitted to the hospital due to heart attack. At first, l was reluctant to go as worried about his health condition.
But when he gave his green light and approval for me to attent the talk, l went.He was so proud when he watched me on air from the hospital. The topic given was on youth's development. The other panelist was Prof. Dato' Dr. Zainal Kling from University of Malaya and the moderator was Mr. George Miranda.I did not want to talk about the outcome of our discussion. What can l say was that l really enjoyed the discussion in front of the camera though at first, l felt a little bit nervous as he was an expert on his field while l was just , at that time a young, fresh and immature undergraduate!
Nevertheless, we were paid to be on air. After a while, l was addicted to be on air. So, within 4 months l was invited to 5 different programs including NTV7 ( intellectual discourse with Wan Zaleha Radzi and several teenagers from different universities and colleges). l collected almost RM1000! During that time, the money was really good. Just be on air for half an hour and you will be paid for RM150 or more! What more. people will recognize you. This is the high time to generate income besides fan collection, hehe!
What did l use the money. For saving purpose which later l converted into an investment. WHat more,al-hamdulilAllah obtained 2nd upper for LLB (Hons) , l managed to convert loan into a scholarship, so l did not have to pay for RM17,500 to MARA. There you are, l did save few thousand bucks for it.
My point here, try every means to maximize your profits and minimize your risks/loss. Then, you will enjoy freedom on personal finance.
Do not forget to live within your means!
It is easy to say, hard to practise, what do you think!
