Salam to all,
May Allah bless your journey of seeking knowledge.
Just now l received a call from ex-student of my colleague who wanted to talk to her. Infortunately, she was not around. Instead, she asked me whether l am a law lecturer or not. She dragged the conversation for almost 15 minutes without asking me whether l was busy or not. In fact, she forgot to ask for my name. Sound very impatient to get my view on her problem about termination of contract of service.
Then, l politely asked her to read more carefully the letter offer. She said there is no clause that satted that if the employee refuses to be transfered, it is amounting to breach of contract and the employer has the right not to pay the salary. I then asked her to review other documents that she has signed. She said no.
When l asked her where she made the phone call, she said from her home. At last, she admittedly said it is her husband's problem with his boss, not hers.(I wonder why she lied from the outset. There is not a shame to admit from the beginning)
There you see.
The way she asked for a free consultation withiut proper ethics of telephone conversation.
When you ask for an assitance, always make sure that the other party whom you wish to seek for an advice or help is in the right condition, like not in the busy manner or handling other important tasks. They have the right to refure to say NO if you ask for their help unless you ask in the proper manner.
The bottomline here is, she must always think that l am in the office in the working condition. She is comfortably at home waiting for an immediate answer without much effort from her to even ask for my name , just to show politeness and apprreciate my advices...
So, be professional in handling any task , including when you ask for a favour from someone who never meet you or whom you never even bother to know their names. Of course, that person will definately will not bother to find solution for you...
So, please learn more on the soft skills like improving your communication and telephone ethics.
Any comment..?
Till then, see you in the class!
