Tips on how to ask questions in public

Assalamualaikum wrt. wbt. and a very good morning to everyone,

How was your weekend? Hopefully, you will attend each class today until the end of the semester with fresh mind, sweet smiling face and positive attitude to excel.

Emm, l am so happy to read few comments from my students. I am waiting for others to write to me too so that l might be able to identify which areas that interest you most. One of the comment came from group 5A who claim that his/her problem was does not have enough guts and nerves to raise questions during my lectures.You are not the only one who face the problem dear, many have. Except, they do not have the guts and nerves to even write to me like yours!So, you have gained more confidence than they are. You see, you have the ability to ask questions which is embedded skills for journalists,Aznil Hj Nawawi, reporters, Karam Singh Warya, Norzie Pak Wan Chik, Wan Zaleha Radzi and others who like to ask questions. There is no such thing as a stupid question. You may intervene the session with your question. Who knows, your question may help others who share the same boat.

For example, l asked one (1) question immediately when a presenter asked the audience during question and asnwer session. I prepared the question in advance so that l would sound confidence demanding an immediate answer. To my suprise, few of the audience are also interested with my question and begin asking more explanation! My question touched on the digital library. At the end of the session, the organiser promised to conduct an ICT session for a half day for those who are interested.Many are interested to attend.It was started from my single and direct question. Imagine if l did not ask question from the outset, no one dares to spot the question and there will be no ICT class for us to fully utilise the digital library. I felt so proud of myself because of my guts and nerves to stand up and ask question effortlessly, there is the positive impact of one question which is worth more than few thousand ringgit as the organiser will organise it for free!

Few tips for you as it works for me for years!
1) Have faith in yourself. Be confidence;
2) Practise makes perfect. Rephrase each sentence repeatedly loud and clear in front of the mirror;
3) Make sure your seat is near the microphone if it is acquired;
4) Study the content beforehand. Make some research or study the topic beforehand;
5) Make sure your friends will understand your question. Keep it short and sweet;
6) Start with asking one question just to be familiar with your loud voice being heard to everyone in the class or in the hall;
7) Last but not least; think positive about the outcome. I mean, do not try to imagine people will laugh at your question.be sure that it will benefit others, like my experience stated above.

Trust me, once you have tried all the 7 tips above, every week your legs will be shaking if you do not ask questions! So, start asking questions, for your better understanding and soon, you will be among the glamorous people in your batch!

I am also waiting your comments online. So, nothing to lose. More benefits to come.

See you in the class.

emmm.. 7 tips huh.. ok, i will for sure try it the first thing tomorrow.
ahh, save it. i might as well try it now. mdm farhah, according to perpective of view, is there any possibility that a student have the ability of getting full contol of his financial standings? because to tell u the truth, i`ve read several books on finance, like azizi ali: the millionare in me, millionare comes from jupiter, and several foregn book like rich dad poor dad, and personal finance for dummies. but nothing seems to be working for me. what happened?? for one realsitic reason i could think of is that i`m still studying and all that books is for people who have salaries,-well secured jobs. And for that it makes me feel so low. its like i have this better undertandings than my mates, yet i`m still doing the same mistakes as they did. self motivation? -yup, tried that one. been listening to dr, fadhilah kamsah, and reading books like "dare to fail".. but...
--man! something is truly missing here.
