Live within your means

Salam to everyone,

PTPTN loan defaulters will face nightmare when their names will be blacklisted from making application for housing or car loan. I am sure now you are PTPTN loan holder , if you are thinking of buying another new handphone while the old is still usable or perhaps buy own motorbike or kancil , you better be careful. Otherwise, you will end up like the previous loan defaulters who broke before the end of the month because they did not set their priority in managing their personal debts. Some of them can pay RM650 for their car monthly installment but only RM50 just to settle their loan debt to PTPTN which l think too much and they are self centered.

It is human nature like, we like shopping.Nevertheless, there is a limit for everything. In school or campus, we never be taught on how to spend our money wisely. It is up to our experince on trials and errors (more errors!)

I do not want you to experience such a terrible experience of not getting a job after your graduation and at the same time, you do not have any saving in your saving account, only the minimum deposit! Now, start saving and you can buy Sijil Simpanan Premium ASB for your future. I myself allocate RM500 every month just for it.While l was a student, l had one (1) saving account just for my saving. Which means , l cannot withdraw from that account in whatever circumstances.Every year, l have seen the dividends have been increased.I am so happy and relieved.

l did not spend lavishly on pocket money that l received monthly from my dad ( l saved it most of the time), l had a few thousands from my MARA scholarship which al-hamdulilAllah, it was converted into full scholarship due to the excellent result for my LL.B (Hons). At least, at that time, l did not have to pay RM18,790 MARA scholarship for my 4 year law degree program. My late father ( at that time, he was a retired pensioner (Major (B) was so proud of me. He kept telling kampung folks that l followed my elder brother's footsteps of not burdening his financial condition as we were fully sponsored by MARA.

At that time, l sent resume and many replied in positive. I had four (4) jobs waiting for me including a magistrate post which l declined as l wanted to practise first as a corporate lawyer before l joined the government. Since university days,I was always reminded myself on what will happen in the future if l am broke. That's why until now, l do not shop clothes a lot. Most of my belongings which 5 -7 years ago still l can use it until now as still in good condition such as walkman, clothes, jewellery and handbags! Alah membeli menang memakai!I did not like window shopping because if l do, this will increase my expenses and overbudget.

Of course ,only a few occasions, l really spend a lot on shopping only if l have accomplished my missions like getting A for 3 or 4 subjects in that semester. So, l worked hard to earn A on these subjects because l wanted shopping so much as a special gift as a result for my countless efforts.

Every time when l received allowances, the first thing that l will do is to save 20-30% and credited it into my saving account in which l am not going to touch it in the short term under whatever circumstances.

That's how you can try to live within your means and will not broke at the end of the day/month. Have a proper back up system will help us to be tough and perseverence.Start now when you are a student. Do not wait until you start earning your salary. Otherwise, you will be sorry.

Do not get be tempted easily with sales or jualan mega/runtuh!
Otherwise, all your saving will go vanish if you spend on shopping unnessary items!!!

Good luck in managing your money.

Do not forget to enjoy live...

Take care.
